What is IIS ?
IIS stands for Internet Information services or Internet Information Server it is a Microsoft Web Server application software. Its can only for the Windows Operating Systems. Its can be supports HTTP, HTTPS, SMPT, NNTP, FTP and FTPS. Now we are using the IIS 7.5 Version only . The 8.0 will be released in September 4th 2012. It is integral part of the microsoft windows server programs. The IIS can be accessed in all Windows operating systems like XP, 2000, Vista, win7 & win8. The IIS will cannot be enabled or turn on at the time of Installing the operating system or not after the installing process is completed. The Internet Information Services Manager is accessed through only the MMC(Microsoft Management Console) or Control Administrative tools of your systen. HTTP - Hyper Text Transfer Protocol
HTTPS - Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure
FTP - File Transfer Protocol
FTPS - File Transfer Protocol Secure
SMTP - Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
NNTP - Network News Transfer Protocol
Steps To Enable IIS :
Step-1: Go To Control Panel -> Programs

Step-2:Then Click Turn Windows Features On and Off .
Step-3: A Small Window Will Open In Then Click Internet Information Services Check Box
Step-4: Then Click WorldWideServices Then Click PlusButton Then Click Application Development Features Then Click PlusButton Then Click ASP Check BOX.
Step-6: Then a Small Window Will Open In that Click Directory Browsing.
Step-7: Then Click The Enable Button To Enable The Directory Browsing.
Step-8: Then Open Any Web Browser Type http://localhost/ in Your URL Box It show like Below window.
Step-9: Now Your IIS is Activated in your system.
Step-10: For Example Program Click The Below Download Button To Download the Example Program.
